CLOSING THE DRC'S ENERGY & MOBILITY GAP

Karibu is a joint venture between the Fleurette Group and Andrade Gutierrez, one of the world’s leading construction companies. Signed in April 2014, the JV aims to develop mobility and energy opportunities across the DRC, focusing on road and rail infrastructure, and the development of thermal and hydro power.  Operations will focus initially in the Katanga province.

FRIPT Project

A PROUD MEMBER OF ENERGY-CREATING FRIPT PROJECT

The Fleurette Group is participating in the FRIPT project as part of a mining consortium with MUMI and KCC.

FRIPT will enable SNEL, the DRC’s national electricity company, to rehabilitate hydropower generators in an effort to secure power supply for the mining operations, while distributing excess electricity to the local population in the Katanga region.

The FRIPT project is designed to generate 450 megawatts – with 385 mega watts designated to the consortium. The project includes the upgrade of the 2300km Inga-Kolwezi DC line, the refurbishment of two generators at INGA 2, as well as new substations in Kolwezi.

To date, the consortium has invested $370 million in FRIPT.
